Description

Hey guys~ :3
I wanted to warm up and get more familiar with coloring on Sai, just because it looks so cool D: Still need to flip flop between it and photoshop, but it's fun and the results are pretty neat :3

Got to finish up my starbucks entry for tomorrow X_X and then it's commission time ;D Yay~

This is sort of to Lindsey, who is obsessed with owls, and they sort of inspired me to draw today :/

Very, very nicely done. I must say I'm a sucker for your work, I love the way you draw everything. Alright, lets get to it. First off, I love the colors. However, I feel as if a couple of the swirly cyan lines are too overpowering and they draw the attention of the viewer away from the focal. While they are a very nice effect, you should be careful not to go overboard with them. Your depth is perfect, the background is nice and blurry giving the effect of it being way back in the distance, like it should be. You also did a wonderful job with shadows and highlights. The next thing I really like about this piece is that you took the one thing that makes the Owl a bird and you slapped it on the "queen" as well. The wings on her back really provide a unique atmosphere as well as an amazing effect. You flow is outstanding as well. The queens hair is flowing to the right and so is everything else. Too many times I see pictures where people have things flowing all over the place. I'd say your not one of them. Theres something else I noticed too... The two owls that you can see are both looking at something "off-screen" shall we say, which once again adds to the atmosphere of the piece. This subtle detail also leads me as the viewer to wonder, what is over there, what are the owls looking at and what are they going to do about it? The more I look at this piece the more I wonder. Theres a good story hidden somewhere in this one Momo.
